Retire in Paradise
Indonesia is a gem for expats considering retirement, offering a blend of affordability, cultural richness, and natural beauty. The cost of living is significantly lower than in many Western countries, making it an attractive option for those looking to stretch their retirement savings. Housing, food, and transportation are all budget-friendly, allowing retirees to maintain a comfortable lifestyle without breaking the bank.
Beyond the financial advantages, Indonesia is culturally diverse and vibrant, with a warm and welcoming community. Expats can enjoy a slower pace of life while immersing themselves in the local culture, from the serene beaches of Bali and Lombok to the bustling markets of Jakarta.
The country boasts stunning landscapes, from lush rainforests to pristine beaches, providing endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation. Indonesia’s rich history, friendly locals, and expat-friendly policies make it an ideal destination for retirees seeking a fulfilling and relaxed lifestyle.
In this article, we will explore two retirement visas available to foreigners who wish to make Indonesia their home – the E33F and E33E visas.
Retirement Visa – E33F
The E33F retirement visa is available to foreigners aged 60 years and older. This visa is valid for one year and can be extended for an additional year.
It allows multiple entries, enabling expats to travel to neighboring countries and return to Indonesia without needing to apply for a new visa.
To qualify for the E33F retirement visa, applicants must demonstrate an income of at least USD 3,000 per month. Additionally, they must provide bank statements showing that their balance did not fall below USD 2,000 during the past three months.
Applicants must also have a sponsor to be eligible for the E33F visa, a service that is typically provided by a visa agent.
The processing time for the visa application is quite fast, taking only 3 to 4 days.
Silver Hair Visa – E33E
The E33E visa, also known as the silver hair visa, is the counterpart to the E33F visa. To qualify for the E33E visa, applicants must be at least 60 years old.
This retirement visa is valid for a period of 5 years and is extendable. It also allows for multiple entries.
One of the advantages of the E33E silver hair visa is that applicants do not need a local sponsor, simplifying the application process.
To be eligible, applicants must deposit USD 50,000 into a state-owned bank in Indonesia and demonstrate a monthly income of at least USD 3,000.
